Janie Dee Stars In HELLO, DOLLY! At Curve Leicester For Christmas; Replaces O'Connor

Award-winning actress Janie Dee returns to Curve to play the title role in Artistic Director Paul Kerryson's production of Michael Stewart and Jerry Herman's Hello, Dolly! This production reunites Dee and Kerryson following their collaboration on The King and I in 2010. The production opens on Wednesday 5 December, with previews from 30 November, and runs until 12 January 2013. (more...)

The Human Race Theatre Announces the Lineup for the 2013 Festival of New Musicals

The Human Race Theatre Company's commitment to the creation of new works takes center stage with its summer Festival of New Musicals. Producing Artistic Director Kevin Moore has selected two works by artists familiar to Human Race audiences to headline the sixth annual event-The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes and Guarding Gold Street. The productions perform in The Loft Theatre over the course of the three-day festival, the culmination of a two-week-long workshop process in which writers get the chance to further develop their musicals with the help of professional actors, then see the shows performed in staged readings. Alan Ayckbourn Set to Direct SUGAR DADDIES at ACT This Fall

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre is pleased to announce the American premiere of lauded playwright Alan Ayckbourn's Sugar Daddies, directed by Ayckbourn himself, as one of the six mainstage selections in the 2013 Season. ACT Artistic Director Kurt Beattie invited Ayckbourn to direct during a meeting in 2011 in England. The opportunity to collaborate in person is the result of ACT's commitment to and success with Ayckbourn's work, which has engendered a lasting artistic relationship. Sugar Daddies is slated to be produced in September and October, 2013. The play will be staged in ACT's Allen Theatre, as productions in-the-round are Ayckbourn's specialty. (more...)


FREUD'S LAST SESSION Celebrates 750th Performance

FREUD'S LAST SESSION, the runaway hit play by Mark St. Germain, celebrated its 750th New York performance yesterday, June 30th at New World Stages (240 West 50th Street). FREUD'S LAST SESSION is the winner of the 2011 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Play. In celebration of the official end of the school year, the show's producers recently released an additional block of $20 student tickets for all performances this summer. (more...)

I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the Fusion Theatre Company. Their productions are highly professional, well produced and consistently deliver good, solid theatrical entertainment. So it pains me considerably to have to say that HUMBLE BOY, which opened at the Cell Theatre on April 25, falls disappointingly short of the mark. (more...)
