Did anybody go see "Death of a Salesman" tonight? And if so, what was the stage door like? Did Andrew Garfield get to stop for photos, sign autographs, etc.?

Saw the (incredible) show tonight and John Glover signed for two seconds, as did the actor playing Bernard. Andrew Garfield beelined for his car but we called him over and he signed. No pictures. He didn't get everyone waiting but he signed for about 10 minutes. No one else in the cast signed and we never saw Linda Edmond or Phillip Seymour Hoffman exit the theater. Mike Nichols came out and rejected an old woman an autograph. Poor lady, she was so excited!

That's a little disappointing to hear that everyone was either absent or in a rush. Hopefully as it progresses the actors will stay longer or come out and such. If anyone can continue to update this thread with their experiences as time goes on it would be cool as I am looking to see the show soon and I hopefully will know what to expect. Thanks.

Also, were there a lot of people waiting at the door and did John Glover or Fran Kranz (Bernard) take pics even though they were there for a short time or did no pics mean everyone and not just Andrew Garfield?

Aw that's a disappointment. And I agree, hopefully as the show progresses the actors will stay longer to sign. From what it sounds like so far though, the stage door experience here is nothing like the one at HOW TO SUCCEED. Radcliffe and Laroquette were all generous and kind when they came out to meet their fans at the crazy stage door.

I hate when different experiences are different.

Glover took maybe one or two pictures, didn't notice if Kranz did as he didn't come to my side of the barricades.

I would definitely NOT use the word "crazy" to describe this stagedoor. There was a fair amount of people but I'd say the majority of people went away with Garfield's autograph. Perhaps Hoffman will start signing after he feels better (you could hear he still was sick during the show.)

A friend of mine stagedoored Thursday night, and agrees with a number of things that pli1018 posted, but she says that Finn Wittrock (who plays Happy) also signed. And she says she saw Linda Emond make a beeline for her car, avoiding any autographs. She says there were about 30 people altogether waiting, but the number dwindled as the time went by. Hoffman was a no-show.

Remember -- they are still in rehearsal during the day, so they are putting in long days and need their rest.

That being said, it might not be any different after opening.

I saw the matinee yesterday and it was similar to what was posted earlier. It was definately more crowded than 30 people but not as crazy as How to Succeed. Neither Garfield or Hoffman came out. The doorman said it was because it was a two day show and they needed rest, which is understandable. I don't know if they came out after the evening show. I never saw Edmund at all. The other cast came out and were just leaving unless someone stopped them by asking for an autograph. I stopped Fran Kranz (Bernard) because I enjoyed his character from Dollhouse so he signed for me and and took a picture and signed for the people around me before leaving. John Glover and Finn Wittrock were similar. He was leaving and someone asked them so they stopped and signed for the few people at where they stopped. I was able to get autographs from both of them but they didn't stay long enough to get pictures. Everyone else kind of just came out and bee lined it past the crowd. Not the best experience but it is only the first week and it was a matinee. But if someone is coming out and just walking out and you want an autograph I say just ask and they will most likely stop or at least they did in my case.

Went last night. Pretty crazy stage door, but survivable. Most of cast came out and would only stop if asked. Linda Emond came out a back door and we saw her get into her car. Andrew Garfield came out and was incredibly nice. He signed only playbills and show merchandise at first and then signed a few Spiderman things. He spent about 5 minutes on each side of the barricade. No Philip Seymour Hoffman. Mike Nichols came out and just waved and got in his car.
Hope this helps!

I saw the matinee yesterday and decided to stand across the street from the crowd at the stage door (as I only wanted to get Fran Kranz and figured it would be the easiest way to see him when he came out).

Both Hoffman and Garfield came out the door at the opposite side of the theater from the stage door. Hoffman, has never been very fan friendly (and still is not). Garfield does sign (and did for two people who saw him leaving from that door) but does not take pictures.

Bump!
This is on my list of shows to see in a couple weeks and I'm thinking of catching a Wednesday matinee. If Andrew doesn't come out after matinees, would I have a chance of meeting him if I came back after the evening show?
